Skiing at Chalet Claire-Marie

Les Granges is at an altitude of 1650 metes and is situated between St.Martin de Belleville and Les Menuires in the Belleville valley, part of the world famous 3 vallées ski area the largest linked ski area in the world.

Val Thorens at the head of the valley is the highest resort in Europe (2300m) guaranteeing snow for the whole season.

From Chalet Claire-Marie you have a choice of skiing from Saint Martin de Belleville, Les Menuires or Val Thorens. The resorts of St.Martin de Belleville and Les Menuires are both just a short drive from the chalet.

From Saint Martin de Belleville there a telecabine and chairlift to the top of the Tougnette providing easy accees to the whole of the 3 valleys; snow cannons ensure all season access to the village.
From Les Menuires there is a choice of lifts with links to Val Thorens, Meribel Valley and La Masse.

Private and Group lessons are available at both Saint Martin de Belleville and Les Menuires.

There is ample free parking available close to the ski lifts in both Saint Martin de Belleville and Les Menuires.

Non-skiers

A system of well-marked paths that can be followed on foot, or on snowshoes winds it's way through charming villages following the river. The gentle gradients are perfect for all ages and rides on husky dog sleds is another way to see the scenery.

Take a ride on the comfortable 8-man telecabine from Saint Martin de Belleville and sit on the sunny terraces of one of the two mountain restaurants at the top of the lift where you can meet friends for lunch. From the top of the telecabine 'Roc des 3 Marches' at Les Menuires you can walk on snow shoes on a marked trail or just admire the view. At Val Thorens you can visit the highest peak of the three valleys, the Cime de Caron at 3200m, riding on one of the world's largest ski lifts.

Snow shoe (raquette de neige) outings are organized by the local tourist office with a guide who will take you on walks with breathtaking views and if you are lucky you can see deer and other wild animals. These outings are available for different levels of fitness.

Concerts are held in the baroque church of Saint Martin de Belleville and in the contemporary churches of Les Menuires and Val Thorens.

Children at Chalet Claire-Marie

We have a cot and high chairs in the chalet. All terrain buggies can be rented locally. The chalet’s private enclosed garden is an ideal place to build a snowman or play. We have toboggans, children’s books, videos and games and a selection of toys for tiny tots. Baby is sitting available by arrangement.

Ski school & nursery

The Schtrumpfs Village (Smurfs) in Les Menuires offers child minding from 3 month to 6 years, and has won awards for the best child-care in a French ski resort. Parents of our young guests at Chalet Claire-Marie can thoroughly recommend the Schtrumpfs Village.

In the village there is nursery is for children aged 3 – 30 months and a mini-club for children aged 30 month to 6 years. The large enclosed outdoor area of the village is a perfect place for tiny tots to start skiing or to play in the snow in safety supervised by qualified staff.

Children up to the age of 13 enrolled in all day ski lessons can have a supervised lunch at the village.

The village is recognised by the French DDASS and the Department Youth and Sports Management.



Arrivals & departures

Summer Chalet Claire-Marie

Chalet Claire-Marie holidays are from Sunday to Sunday. Arrival and departure on a Sunday mean less crowded roads, cheaper flights and an enjoyable last day’s ski on less crowded pistes.

We can accept weekend bookings from Thursday - Sunday or arrivals and departures on other days of the week depending on availability and these are usually on a late booking basis (no more than 3 weeks prior to departure)

Chalet hosts

The chalet staff at Chalet Claire-Marie will make every effort to ensure you enjoy your holiday and take care of the daily running of the chalet. Our hosts have a day off during the week when guests can take the opportunity of dining at one of the local restaurants. Our aim is to help you have a comfortable, trouble free holiday in our delightful holiday home.
